One dead, two critical after taxi shooting in Joburg

One person has been shot dead and two taxi drivers critically wounded in a suspected taxi feud at the Noord taxi rank in Johannesburg.

It is understood that several unknown gunmen approached a group of people at the rank last night and opened fire, before fleeing the scene.



Police spokesperson Tsekiso Mofokeng says, “It is alleged that about 8 o'clock in the evening, unknown men approached people and fired shots, one bystander was fatally wounded and 2 others were injured and are in hospital."

According to Mofokeng, they are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.

The police have appealed to the community and those that were at the taxi rank when the incident took place, to assist with information which will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
